Travel in a Van

Relax and experience one of the best road-trip routes in Europe, this extended route travels through southwestern France and Northern Spain. Visiting coastal cities and towns along the way, as well as making longer stops with overnight stay at two beautiful natural parks, one in France and one in Spain. ➡️ This trip includes cities and natural parks visits ➡️ This trip includes 1-night stay at B&B and 4-nights camping 💡Why a road-trip? A road trip is a dynamic place to be where the smooth change in place brings with it all that is familiar and not very familiar for experiencing it, and through that enriching one's life with unforgettable moments while enjoying a wonderful time. 📜Guidelines • Each booking is for 1 person • The trip itinerary shows the main stops, activities, and overnight stays • When travelling by road or motorway we will have stops along the way for refreshments • Maximum of 300KM of travel per any given travel day • There can be full days dedicated to activities or relaxation where no major travel takes place ✔️ What to bring with you? (necessary) • Personal sleeping bag and towels • Clothes for the duration of trip • Personal care and hygiene items • Comfortable and suitable shoes for walking in nature (hiking) • Your good mood and smile

About me: I am Roger Berkley, I have lived at and travelled to many places: Mediterranean islands, Alpine peaks, Arctic circle and sandy deserts. My travel styles vary and include short city breaks, brief regional travels, and longer road-trips.

Accommodation: One night will be spent at a B&B, afterwards we will stay in a mini-camper or in a tent when camping (four nights). We can take use of our mini-camper kitchenette and cooker for meal preparation. You can bring up to 2 pieces of luggage per person (a small personal suitcase and a daypack). Onboard, we will have a first-aid kit as well as a fire extinguisher. ❔What to bring with you? (recommended) • Anti-mosquito spray or similar • Sunblock cosmetic (preferably biodegradable) • Bathrobe and slippers • Swimming suit and goggles • Your travel insurance (if you're not a resident of Germany or Austria) • Your health insurance (such as your European health insurance card) If you have any questions, please ask in the Q&A section!

Poitiers

Day 1

Starting place of an early afternoon drive towards the west, we will meet at city centre or near a departure spot for greetings with a cup of coffee and for finding the perfect spot for your travel belongings in the mini-camper. On we go! Drive to La Rochelle.

La Rochelle

Day 1-2

A coastal city famous for its historic port and charming Old Town. Visit the Old Port, stroll along the waterfront promenade, and explore the medieval towers. You can also visit the Maritime Museum and the Aquarium (not included in price). Camping overnight in La Rochelle.

Landes de Gascogne Regional Natural Park

Day 2-3

A morning drive south to Landes de Gascogne Regional Natural Park, a picturesque natural area known for its forests, lakes, and wetlands. Explore the park's trails, go hiking or biking, and enjoy the natural beauty. Overnight stay camping surrounded by beautiful nature and fresh water lake.

Biarritz

Day 3

After a morning swim at the lake we drive to the coastal town of Biarritz, known for its beautiful beaches. Relax on the beaches, take a stroll along the Grande Plage, visit the Rocher de la Vierge, and explore the vibrant city centre. Early evening drive to Spain for overnight stay at B&B in Donostia-San Sebastian.

Donostia-San Sebastian

Day 3-4

Starting the day with a brief exploration of the vibrant city of San Sebastián. Relax on the picturesque La Concha Beach, wander through the Old Town (Parte Vieja). Continue on a morning drive to Bilbao.

Bilbao

Day 4

Visit Bilbao, a vibrant city known for its modern architecture and cultural attractions. Visit the iconic Guggenheim Museum (not included in price), explore the Old Town (Casco Viejo) (not included in price), and try delicious Basque cuisine. Continue with an early afternoon drive to Santander.

Santander

Day 4

Visit the Palacio de la Magdalena, enjoy a walk along the Sardinero Beach, and explore the charming city center. Finally, an afternoon drive to Picos de Europa National Park for overnight camping surrounded by beautiful nature.

Picos de Europa

Day 4-6

Waking up at Picos de Europa National Park, a majestic mountain range in northern Spain. This stunning place offers breathtaking landscapes, hiking trails, and outdoor activities. You have arrived to two nights of nature camping and two days of time surrounded by nature. Spend the day hiking and exploring the park, enjoying the breathtaking scenery, and immersing yourself in nature. Stay overnights in the park or nearby.
