Has Zanzibar and Mombasa ever been on your bucket list at any time? Are you an adrenaline junkie? Do you find partying and traveling to be something you want to do? Have you experienced the Swahili culture on the perfect coastlines? If your answer is yes or no, this is your perfect opportunity to experience wild fun while doing many activities across the coastal city like a local. This backpacking adventure spans two weeks, commencing in Nairobi and traversing through Mombasa to reach Dar es Salaam before concluding on the enchanting island of Zanzibar. The dates for the journey remain open to adjustments. The day before departure, we gather in Nairobi to acquaint ourselves and thoroughly review the itinerary. The following day, our rendezvous point is the Central Business District (CBD), where we collectively embark on the train journey to Mombasa. The whole journey to Mombasa takes around 6 hours. From Mombasa, we would then take the Likoni ferry to Ukunda which would take about 30 min, then take a taxi to the Hostel we would be staying in. Here we will try some coastal dishes and then spend the night. We will be in Mombasa for 4 days, exploring all the planned sites to be visited. We will then proceed to Daresalaam via a coach; It's a lengthy journey, but I promise we will enjoy changing the terrain as we explore the beautiful East Africa. We would go through border control crossing to Tanzania, so make sure you have your visa, yellow fever card, and the Covid vaccine certificate. Arriving in dar salaam, after a little rest we will have our meals and then a night out (Explore Daresalaam nightlife, the deal was to travel as we party) but for those tired can go to bed. We will stay in Daresalaam for two nights before proceeding to our final destination (We can extend if the need comes). We would then take a ferry to our final destination. Steeped in culture and history, Zanzibar is fondly known as the ‘Spice Island’ due to the variety of spices grown here. Stone Town, a World Heritage Site, boasts bustling marketplaces, beautifully carved wooden doors, mosques, and grand Arab residences. The combination of Arabic and African cultures on this island lends itself to the simple bustle of everyday life. A relaxed atmosphere exudes, and you’ll find it a great place to unwind. At low tide, you can watch men going out to fish and women cultivating seaweed. At high tide, children are busy playing and running on the beach. My travel plan is open to suggestions from my TripMates and I don't mind sharing rooms as long as we all get the chance to have an experience of a lifetime. Some highlights are: swimming with turtles 🐢, a spice tour 🥘, a visit to the prison island, and more. I have planned routes and accommodations where we will get an apartment/hostel and share in Nungwi and Stone Town. Car hire and activities will be paid on-site.
