special You will get in shape, oh yes you will
In this trekking tour, we will visit the Orobie Pre Alps, around the Provence of Bergamo, north of Italy, in particular the Eastern chain, which is the most spectacular and dramatic for trekking and view sight. The trekking will begin and end at an altitude of 800mt. Most of the trekking will be held at an altitude of 2000mt with a peak point of 2600mt. Despite this altitude, the trekking is medium-easy with no particular difficulties. No particular technical equipment is needed besides a good pair of mountain boots, a heavy jacket, clean shirts and socks spares, sunscreen, sunglasses, a light raincoat, a water bottle, and a decent midsize backpack. Tents and sleeping bags (unless you bring your own), will be provided. The daily walk is between 3 to 5 hours, depending on the physical shape you come in. There is no racing, everyone will walk as comfortably as they feel. It is almost impossible to lose the main path, so the speedy ones can go ahead as I will stay back supporting, physically and mentally the end of the line. The daily walk will begin after breakfast and we expect to reach the next rest point by mid day / early afternoon. After a quick meal, there will be chances to rest or do activities. Some of the main activities will be mountain lake swimming, sunbathing, grass sleeping, Frisbee, or, for the most restless ones, more climbing and exploring of the area. There are a few 3000 mts peaks to climb if you feel particularly energetic, and I can lead you or give you directions. The Evening is the grand feast with dinner at the local mountain hut (I promise, the food will be amazing!) and they always offer some Grappa afterward. We will be sleeping near the hut but with our own tents and sleeping bags, right under the moon and stars.

About me! I grew up around the Bergamo area and I feel a special connection to these mountains. I enjoy Mountain backpacking usually with my dog Oby, the mascot of the group. I also enjoy exotic travels and if these local ones are successful, I will try to organize something more long-range and wild.

Details about the accommodation: I lowered the price to be just for the guide, tour and the tents and sleeping bags so ALL YOUR MEALS will be on you (consider 40€ per day). If you want to sleep in the Hut consider an extra 15€ per night, otherwise tents and sleeping bags will be provided. We will have our meals at mountain huts where we'll be setting up our tents nearby. Lunch can be a sandwich provided by the hut before departure for the daily trekking. Expect to pay 40€ per day in food. Tent, sleeping bag (unless you bring yours) will be provided. If you are in need of equipment ask, I have some extra! Please connect with me about your physical shape before getting on board. Keeping your backpack to a minimum will help you to cover longer distances faster. Keep me posted if you have any questions in the Q&A section!

Trip Itinerary
1

Bergamo

Day 1
Transfer from Bergamo to Trek Starting Point in the morning. This transfer needs to be done in the early morning, we suggest you arrive in Bergamo the night before. We can organize the logistics in advance. Ideally, I will pick up the whole group here and travel to starting point. It is going to be a 1.5-hour drive. We will stop for coffee and bathroom break on the way up. If we are lucky we'll be cozy because we will be 4 and a half (our mascot, Oby, the dog) and backpacks ..a little discomfort before experiencing 5 days of pure freedom and endless skies!
2

Rifugio Antonio Curò

Day 1-2
First Night at Rifugio Curò al Barbellino. The trekking is an easy one, ideal to begin the tour. it is about 3.5 hours in the slow phase. Here we gain altitude and from now on we will stay above 1800 mt. On top the view is idiliac with the great lake where we can swim if the day is sunny. The kitchen here is wonderful (the best on the tour, I promise!) and we will be treated to a lovely dinner... and a good sleep under the stars to be ready for day 2.
3

Refuge Merelli to Coca

Day 2-3
Rifugio Mario Merelli al Coca. Morning breakfast and ready we go! the transfer is about 3.5 hours with some spectacular chain passages, nothing dangerous.. also, the first wildlife will be visible as mountain goats and marmots on the way. Once here I run into a white ermine, I could not believe my eyes. Again once at the hut, we'll have plenty of time to do extra activities or just enjoy ourselves before a mountaintop dinner with an astonishing valley view, and a good night's sleep in our tents before day 3.
4

Rifugio Baroni to Brunone

Day 3-4
Rifugio Baroni al Brunone, Good morning! Coffee is served! The trekking will be a bit longer but extremely spectacular. With its 4/5 hours trek, we will reach an altitude of 2600 mt before descending onto the hut Brunone at 2230 mt. If we are lucky we will still step on a little snow.. The view is probably the best ever. Once here we saw an Eagle.. who knows, we might get lucky again.. Wildlife should be the norm here, the air is chill in the evening, and the sunset is quite terrific. A warm dinner, a cozy warm sleep, and ready for day 4
5

Rifugio Fratelli Calvi

Day 4-5
Rifugio Fratelli Calvi. Perepee Perepee Perepee (army trombs) Out of bed camrades! breakfast time. The trek today is just wonderful, we will walk along the 2000 meters for a few kilometers and pass a mountain hut that is very dramatic. the end of the track will be downhill to Rifugio Calvi. Probably will take 3 to 4 hours of trekking. There will be a lake for the brave one to swim and cool down. And soft grass to nap while waiting for dinner time.
6

Rifugio Laghi Gemelli

Day 5-6
Rifugio Laghi Gemelli. Breakfast is ready, come on everyone. Another day of great mountain walking.. we need to go on a mountain pass on our way to Rifugio Laghi Gemelli.. the trekking will be 4 to 5 hours. The mountain hut is on the lake and very welcoming. This is our last night in the mountains. A bright starry night is expected, Tomorrow with a 3-hour walk we should be back to to "the real world" but these mountains will always remain within you.
7

Bergamo

Day 6
End of Trekking, we go home, kiss kiss good bye Expect to be in Bergamo late afternoon / evening. After our descent I will escort you down to Bergamo and facilitate your continuation of your trip home. Again, logistics will be made in advances so that your next connection will not be missed. ... but I am sure you will be. Goodbye. Until next time
